What this page is

This page quotes r/fantasywriters's rules as ThreadFox read them on 2026-09-26. The quoted text is the community's; the verdict above is our reading of it. Conditions often decide whether a post fits (a required thread, flair, posting day, account age or karma), and r/fantasywriters's current rules on Reddit always win over this page.

Free, for a specific product: a researched Reddit plan by email (communities whose rules fit your post, quoted and dated), or ThreadFox Lite, read-only tools an AI assistant can use to read a community's current rules itself, through your own Chrome (Claude Code: claude mcp add threadfox-lite -- uvx threadfox-lite). For an assistant that also writes and posts within each community's rules, the ThreadFox kit is $49 once.

Want to post here? Get ThreadFox ($49): your AI (Claude Desktop, Claude Code or Codex) reads a community's current rules, writes one post that fits and posts once from your own Chrome. No Claude? We'll post for you ($99 per 30-day campaign). Free: a Reddit launch plan for your product, ThreadFox Lite or the posting checklist by email.

This subreddit is dedicated to those of us who are writing in the fantasy genre.

What its rules say about AI and bots

Plagiarism and A.I.-generated content
All work shared on this subreddit must be the original work of the poster. Work that is plagiarized or A.I.-generated, whether partially or in whole, is strictly forbidden.
All 7 rules of r/fantasywriters
  1. Civility
Treat one another with respect and dignity. Do not insult one another, escalate arguments, or engage in activities that may put any of our community members at risk of physical, mental, or emotional harm.
  2. On-Topic
All top-level posts must be related to writing in the fantasy genre.
  3. Self-Promotion
Any posts or comments promoting one’s own work are restricted to our Weekly Writer's Check-In thread, posted every Wednesday. Advertisements for paid services are strictly forbidden everywhere on this subreddit.
  4. Spam
Memes, repetitive posts, and content that is low-effort or low-quality are not allowed.
  5. Due Diligence
All posts should be well-formatted, well-written, and well-researched. Walls of text, content riddled with distracting grammar and spelling errors, and questions already answered in our [FAQ](https://www.reddit.com/r/fantasywriters/wiki/index/a_beginners_guide_to_writing_fantasy_fiction/#wiki_frequently_asked_questions) should not be posted here.
  6. Plagiarism and A.I.-generated content

  7. Reporting and Appealing
Please report all posts and comments that violate the above rules. Additionally, if your post or comment was removed, you have the right to appeal the removal using modmail.

What the written rules don't show

  • Unpublished minimums. Many communities remove posts from new or low-karma accounts through AutoModerator settings that are not on the rules page, often before a moderator sees them.
  • Reddit's own filters. Reddit's site-wide spam filters can remove posts from accounts that mostly share links to their own site, in any community.
  • The community's norms. Many communities see themselves as peers, not an audience: post where you already take part, and make the post worth reading without the link.
