Conditions often decide whether a post fits (a required thread, flair, posting day, account age or karma), and r/audiobooks's current rules on Reddit always win over this page.

What its rules say about promotion

Copyright Infringement is not allowed
NO discussions that promote copyright infringement. This includes posts that ask for illegal torrent links, promotes torrents, or Youtube, soundcloud & torrent links that infringe on copyright.
No "I made a text to speech app" type posts
We support voice artists and actors here. So, Congrats you made an app that converts text to speech, using AI voices. We don't care. Every second person seems to have done this. We don't want AI voices. We don't want your app. If you are an author who made an audiobook using AI.... you can post. But expect to be flamed for it. Just record it yourself, or hire someone.
Limit promo threads to once per week
We welcome authors, narrators etc giving away copies of books, or promoting their books. However to avoid the spamming of books by a small group we are limiting these posts to once per week per reddit user. Multiple posts will be deleted. If you want to post more than once per week, there is always there Freebie Friday post that you can comment in. And as per our other rules: you MUST clearly state your association with the book.
Use of Affiliate Links
Affiliate links are generally not encouraged for /r/audiobooks If an affiliate link is used it MUST: 1) be clearly stated within the post that it is an affiliate link 2) be of additional benefit to the community (so no generic linking to sites that are likely well known like audible.com or audiobooks.com etc) Not meeting #1 will have posts removed immediately. Item #2 shall be at the discretion of the subreddit moderators

What the written rules don't show

  • Unpublished minimums. Many communities remove posts from new or low-karma accounts through AutoModerator settings that are not on the rules page, often before a moderator sees them.
  • Reddit's own filters. Reddit's site-wide spam filters can remove posts from accounts that mostly share links to their own site, in any community.
  • The community's norms. Many communities see themselves as peers, not an audience: post where you already take part, and make the post worth reading without the link.
