Can you promote on r/ebooks?

Allowed, with limits Its rules allow sharing your own work, with conditions they spell out.

What this page is

This page quotes r/ebooks's rules as ThreadFox read them on 2026-10-04. The quoted text is the community's; the verdict above is our reading of it. Conditions often decide whether a post fits (a required thread, flair, posting day, account age or karma), and r/ebooks's current rules on Reddit always win over this page.

Free, for a specific product: a researched Reddit plan by email (communities whose rules fit your post, quoted and dated), or ThreadFox Lite, read-only tools an AI assistant can use to read a community's current rules itself, through your own Chrome (Claude Code: claude mcp add threadfox-lite -- uvx threadfox-lite). For an assistant that also writes and posts within each community's rules, the ThreadFox kit is $49 once.

Want to post here? Get ThreadFox ($49): your AI (Claude Desktop, Claude Code or Codex) reads a community's current rules, writes one post that fits and posts once from your own Chrome. No Claude? We'll post for you ($99 per 30-day campaign). Free: a Reddit launch plan for your product, ThreadFox Lite or the posting checklist by email.

What its rules say about promotion

Referral Links
No referral links. Feel free to share links, but keep them direct, and without referrals.
All 3 rules of r/ebooks
  1. Incivility
Be courteous to each other. If nothing else, it may be best to ignore the person. If there is an issue, you can ask for a moderator to help mediate things. Should someone be problematic despite attempts to alleviate the situation, further actions can and will be taken by the moderators.
  2. Piracy
No torrent links. No pirated materials. No passing along ebooks that have not been explicitly given out by the Authors or Publishers. This isn't just our rule, but that of Reddit, and the law. As much as you may want to share with everyone, our hands are tied.
  3. Referral Links
No referral links. Feel free to share links, but keep them direct, and without referrals.

What the written rules don't show

  • Unpublished minimums. Many communities remove posts from new or low-karma accounts through AutoModerator settings that are not on the rules page, often before a moderator sees them.
  • Reddit's own filters. Reddit's site-wide spam filters can remove posts from accounts that mostly share links to their own site, in any community.
  • The community's norms. Many communities see themselves as peers, not an audience: post where you already take part, and make the post worth reading without the link.
