ThreadFox

Free · open source (MIT) · version 0.2.9

Check the rules before you share your product.

Five free, read-only Reddit tools for Claude Desktop, Claude Code, Codex and any MCP client, plus the reddit-rules-first skill. It never posts, votes or changes anything.

Before you install: get a free Reddit plan for your product: communities whose rules allow your kind of post, quoted rules with dates, and what each expects. By email, usually within an hour, with no AI setup. Or the posting checklist.

Every read runs in your own Chrome, signed in as you, through Microsoft's Playwright Extension. That extension is the only setup: Node.js is fetched for you if it's missing, checked against nodejs.org's published checksum, and nothing is installed system-wide.

Install

Claude Desktop

Download threadfox-lite-0.2.9.mcpb

Open the file; if Windows asks which app should open it, choose Claude. Claude Desktop sets up Python for it by itself. SHA-256 ed7cc3c45d502723b7dc7cabe62afcd34a393fb9e29f5fa01ca681d97c520c47.

Claude Code

claude mcp add threadfox-lite -- uvx threadfox-lite

Codex

Add to ~/.codex/config.toml:

[mcp_servers.threadfox-lite]
command = "uvx"
args = ["threadfox-lite"]

Any other MCP client

uvx threadfox-lite

The package is on PyPI. uvx comes with uv.

The skill

reddit-rules-first (SKILL.md) works on its own in any agent that reads skills: rules first, one post per community, say it's yours, check what stayed up. Put it in a reddit-rules-first folder in your agent's skills directory.

The source repository and the Claude Code plugin marketplace are temporarily unavailable on GitHub. Everything above works without them.

Get the Reddit posting checklist and ThreadFox updates.

The eight checks we run before every post and the 10 largest subreddits that allow self-promotion, sent now. Then two short follow-ups (day 2 and day 5) and occasional ThreadFox updates, such as changes in how Reddit can be reached.

We use your address only for these emails.

Want your AI to post and reply too?

The full ThreadFox kit lets your AI find relevant conversations, draft posts and replies, publish from your own Chrome and record outcomes.

Also included: an optional Launch Pack for one product, with a community plan and three tailored drafts. Claim it in your buyer library; we email it within 24 hours after your claim. Use the pack manually without AI setup. Running the outreach tools requires your compatible AI and connected Chrome; AI costs are separate.
