Can you promote on r/unity?
Allowed, with limits Its rules allow sharing your own work, with conditions they spell out.
What this page is
This page quotes r/unity's rules as ThreadFox read them on 2026-09-26. The quoted text is the community's; the verdict above is our reading of it. Conditions often decide whether a post fits (a required thread, flair, posting day, account age or karma), and r/unity's current rules on Reddit always win over this page.
Free, for a specific product: a researched Reddit plan by email (communities whose rules fit your post, quoted and dated), or ThreadFox Lite, read-only tools an AI assistant can use to read a community's current rules itself, through your own Chrome (Claude Code: claude mcp add threadfox-lite -- uvx threadfox-lite). For an assistant that also writes and posts within each community's rules, the ThreadFox kit is $49 once.
Want to post here? Get ThreadFox ($49): your AI (Claude Desktop, Claude Code or Codex) reads a community's current rules, writes one post that fits and posts once from your own Chrome. No Claude? We'll post for you ($99 per 30-day campaign). Free: a Reddit launch plan for your product, ThreadFox Lite or the posting checklist by email.

What its rules say about promotion
No Self Promotion
If self promotion is the only thing you post to this sub, this rule applies to you.
Be Specific With Questions
Questions of all types are welcome in the subreddit but we need to know exactly what your issue or confusion is. Please include the following: 1.Explain your desired behavior 2.Explain the actual behavior 3.Describe what you have done to try to fix the issue 4.Include a link to your script that is causing issues. You can do this using a site like [Pastebin](https://pastebin.com/)
No Paid Assets
Assets and music packs are a welcome addition to this sub but we like to keep everything open to everyone (use [Reddit Ads](https://redditinc.com/advertising) if you want to advertise paid items)

"Hey I made this thing, click here!" isn't enough. When linking elsewhere to storefront or download pages, users should be prepared to give written descriptions of their work and intentions here on Reddit. Said users should also be willing to engage in conversations with others. This is a forum for discussion; not a bulletin board. And lastly when posting links to Unity's Asset Store, consider posting to /r/UnityAssets instead. - Searching for group
If you are looking for a team, there is already many subreddits for that exact thing. Please keep this to unity specific conversations
What the written rules don't show
- Unpublished minimums. Many communities remove posts from new or low-karma accounts through AutoModerator settings that are not on the rules page, often before a moderator sees them.
- Reddit's own filters. Reddit's site-wide spam filters can remove posts from accounts that mostly share links to their own site, in any community.
- The community's norms. Many communities see themselves as peers, not an audience: post where you already take part, and make the post worth reading without the link.
Let your AI read the rules before it posts.
ThreadFox reads a community's current rules, writes a post that fits them, posts once with Reddit's Brand affiliate tag and checks it stayed up. The free ThreadFox Lite reads rules too.
