What this page is

This page quotes r/Songwriters's rules as ThreadFox read them on 2026-09-26. The quoted text is the community's; the verdict above is our reading of it. Conditions often decide whether a post fits (a required thread, flair, posting day, account age or karma), and r/Songwriters's current rules on Reddit always win over this page.

Free, for a specific product: a researched Reddit plan by email (communities whose rules fit your post, quoted and dated), or ThreadFox Lite, read-only tools an AI assistant can use to read a community's current rules itself, through your own Chrome (Claude Code: claude mcp add threadfox-lite -- uvx threadfox-lite). For an assistant that also writes and posts within each community's rules, the ThreadFox kit is $49 once.

Want to post here? Get ThreadFox ($49): your AI (Claude Desktop, Claude Code or Codex) reads a community's current rules, writes one post that fits and posts once from your own Chrome. No Claude? We'll post for you ($99 per 30-day campaign). Free: a Reddit launch plan for your product, ThreadFox Lite or the posting checklist by email.

What its rules say about promotion

No blatant self promotion
Please remember that the purpose of this sub is discussion and feedback, not self promotion. If you want notes on whether your ideas work or suggestions for improvement, this community is happy to oblige. If you're only here to promote services or farm clicks, your post will likely be removed as spam.

What its rules say about AI and bots

No AI
Music made with Suno, MusicGen, or other forms of generative AI will be removed. Posts with AI generated visuals will be removed as well.
All 9 rules of r/Songwriters
  1. Be honest but civil
Be nice, guys. Don't feed or be a troll. No one is owed any feedback; always show gratitude.
  2. No organized upvoting
Organized inflation of attention on a post or comment is strictly forbidden and will result in a ban. Your creation will get traction on its own.
  3. One Song Per day
Please only post once per day. Multiple posts a day from the same user will be considered spam. Repeated violation may result in a suspension or ban.
  4. No Scraps
Short clips and unfinished drafts will be considered spam, ie an out-of-context guitar riff or a 4-line verse fragment. WIPs are fine, but should be closer to complete than not.
  5. Original Music Only
Please only post original work. No covers, remixes, or posting on behalf of other artists.
  6. No blatant self promotion
Please remember that the purpose of this sub is discussion and feedback, not self promotion. If you want notes on whether your ideas work or suggestions for improvement, this community is happy to oblige. If you're only here to promote services or farm clicks, your post will likely be removed as spam.
  7. No AI
Music made with Suno, MusicGen, or other forms of generative AI will be removed. Posts with AI generated visuals will be removed as well.
  8. All policies may be updated periodically
The primary goal of these policies is to generate thoughtful, honest, and constructive discussion. If you have thoughts or anything you’d like to share about the policies (agreement, disagreement, contentment, outrage, etc), feel free to reach out via PM or messaging the mods. Otherwise, happy (or sad, or angry) songwriting to everyone! Let's rock.
  9. 9. Read the FAQ
If you have any questions about how our policies are enforced, please see the pinned FAQ thread before reaching out to the mods.

What the written rules don't show

  • Unpublished minimums. Many communities remove posts from new or low-karma accounts through AutoModerator settings that are not on the rules page, often before a moderator sees them.
  • Reddit's own filters. Reddit's site-wide spam filters can remove posts from accounts that mostly share links to their own site, in any community.
  • The community's norms. Many communities see themselves as peers, not an audience: post where you already take part, and make the post worth reading without the link.
