Can you promote on r/rust?
No rule mentions promotion None of its rules mentions self-promotion. That is not permission: read every rule, say plainly that it's yours, and make the post useful on its own.

What this page is
This page quotes r/rust's rules as ThreadFox read them on 2026-10-04. The quoted text is the community's; the verdict above is our reading of it. Conditions often decide whether a post fits (a required thread, flair, posting day, account age or karma), and r/rust's current rules on Reddit always win over this page.
Free, for a specific product: a researched Reddit plan by email (communities whose rules fit your post, quoted and dated), or ThreadFox Lite, read-only tools an AI assistant can use to read a community's current rules itself, through your own Chrome (Claude Code: claude mcp add threadfox-lite -- uvx threadfox-lite). For an assistant that also writes and posts within each community's rules, the ThreadFox kit is $49 once.
Want to post here? Get ThreadFox ($49): your AI (Claude Desktop, Claude Code or Codex) reads a community's current rules, writes one post that fits and posts once from your own Chrome. No Claude? We'll post for you ($99 per 30-day campaign). Free: a Reddit launch plan for your product, ThreadFox Lite or the posting checklist by email.

What its rules say about AI and bots
No low-effort content
No memes, image macros, etc. No slop, whether automatically generated or not. Consider the existing content of the subreddit and whether your post fits in. Does it inspire thoughtful discussion? Use text for code or error messages, not screenshots. Submissions appearing to contain AI-generated content may be removed at moderator discretion. All 6 rules of r/rust
- Observe our code of conduct
Strive to treat others with respect, patience, kindness, and empathy. We observe [the Rust Project Code of Conduct](https://www.rust-lang.org/policies/code-of-conduct). [Details](https://reddit.com/r/rust/wiki/rules#wiki_1._observe_our_code_of_conduct) - Submissions must be on-topic
Posts must reference Rust or relate to things using Rust. For content that does not, use a text post to explain its relevance. Post titles should include useful context. For Rust questions, use the stickied Q&A thread. Arts-and-crafts posts are permitted [on weekends](https://mrmonday.github.io/craft-time/). No meta posts; [message the mods](https://reddit.com/message/compose/?to=/r/rust) instead. [Details](https://reddit.com/r/rust/wiki/rules#wiki_2._submissions_must_be_on-topic) - Constructive criticism only
Criticism is encouraged, though it must be constructive, useful and actionable. Avoid posting links to web pages which allow commenting, such as Twitter, or Github projects/issues when criticizing them. Please [create a read-only mirror](https://archive.org/web/) and link that instead. [Details](https://reddit.com/r/rust/wiki/rules#wiki_3._constructive_criticism_only) - Keep things in perspective
A programming language is rarely worth getting worked up over. No zealotry or fanaticism. Be charitable in intent. Err on the side of giving others the benefit of the doubt. [Details](https://reddit.com/r/rust/wiki/rules#wiki_4._keep_things_in_perspective) - No endless re-litigation
Avoid re-treading topics that have been long-settled or utterly exhausted. Avoid bikeshedding. This is not an official Rust forum, and cannot fulfill feature requests. Use the official venues for that. [Details](https://reddit.com/r/rust/wiki/rules#wiki_5._no_endless_re-litigation) - No low-effort content

What the written rules don't show
- Unpublished minimums. Many communities remove posts from new or low-karma accounts through AutoModerator settings that are not on the rules page, often before a moderator sees them.
- Reddit's own filters. Reddit's site-wide spam filters can remove posts from accounts that mostly share links to their own site, in any community.
- The community's norms. Many communities see themselves as peers, not an audience: post where you already take part, and make the post worth reading without the link.
