What this page is
This page quotes r/roguelikes's rules as ThreadFox read them on 2026-09-26. The quoted text is the community's; the verdict above is our reading of it. Conditions often decide whether a post fits (a required thread, flair, posting day, account age or karma), and r/roguelikes's current rules on Reddit always win over this page.
Free, for a specific product: a researched Reddit plan by email (communities whose rules fit your post, quoted and dated), or ThreadFox Lite, read-only tools an AI assistant can use to read a community's current rules itself, through your own Chrome (Claude Code: claude mcp add threadfox-lite -- uvx threadfox-lite). For an assistant that also writes and posts within each community's rules, the ThreadFox kit is $49 once.

A subreddit for games descended from Rogue - a sub-genre of RPG games involving things like permadeath and randomized levels. This community is mostly centered around traditional roguelike games which are turn-based, grid-based and single character focused, but discussion of "roguelike-like" games is still allowed.
What its rules say about promotion
Limit (self-)promotional material to once per three months, and only for traditional roguelikes.
Games closely related to TRLs are also okay. Posts promoting "rogueli*t*es" will be removed.

- Be nice
It's ok to not like things, but don't be a dick about it. - Limit (self-)promotional material to once per three months, and only for traditional roguelikes.

Posts simply linking to or mentioning games will be removed, especially in relation to roguelites. - No roguelike definition posts
Posts focused on the definition of the term "roguelike" will be removed.
What the written rules don't show
- Unpublished minimums. Many communities remove posts from new or low-karma accounts through AutoModerator settings that are not on the rules page, often before a moderator sees them.
- Reddit's own filters. Reddit's site-wide spam filters can remove posts from accounts that mostly share links to their own site, in any community.
- The community's norms. Many communities see themselves as peers, not an audience: post where you already take part, and make the post worth reading without the link.
