What this page is

This page quotes r/robloxgamedev's rules as ThreadFox read them on 2026-10-04. The quoted text is the community's; the verdict above is our reading of it. Conditions often decide whether a post fits (a required thread, flair, posting day, account age or karma), and r/robloxgamedev's current rules on Reddit always win over this page.

Free, for a specific product: a researched Reddit plan by email (communities whose rules fit your post, quoted and dated), or ThreadFox Lite, read-only tools an AI assistant can use to read a community's current rules itself, through your own Chrome (Claude Code: claude mcp add threadfox-lite -- uvx threadfox-lite). For an assistant that also writes and posts within each community's rules, the ThreadFox kit is $49 once.

Want to post here? Get ThreadFox ($49): your AI (Claude Desktop, Claude Code or Codex) reads a community's current rules, writes one post that fits and posts once from your own Chrome. No Claude? We'll post for you ($99 per 30-day campaign). Free: a Reddit launch plan for your product, ThreadFox Lite or the posting checklist by email.

What its rules say about promotion

Direct Advertisements Are Not Allowed
This subreddit does not allow posts that have a sole purpose to advertise a game, UGC, or monetized creation. Instead, we ask that users use their posts to focus on an aspect of their game. Some suggestions include: * Showing off a creation included in your game, such as the map or a setpiece. * Talking about how you solved a complex scripting problem * Uploading a video of a timelaspe of your creation. The list above is not comprehensive. Get creative with showing your work off!

What its rules say about AI and bots

When helping others, please help them directly
If your are volunteering your time to help other users, please make sure to directly assist with their problem. This means that any comments should provide as clear and concise answer as possible, and the answer should be contained entirely within Reddit comments. Replies to help threads such as "just google it", copy-paste AI replies, or just links to other sites/documentation without any other explanation are considered both rude and indirect help, and will be removed.
All 5 rules of r/robloxgamedev
  1. All post should be game development related
All posts should be directly related to game development. This means we do NOT allow posts about Roblox users/groups, other developers, technical issues outside of Studio, or UGC requests. Please check out some other related subreddits such as /r/Roblox, /r/RobloxHelp, or /r/RobloxTrading for such posts.
  2. Do not harass or call out other users
This subreddit does not allow harassment or hate against other users. In addition, witch-hunting or "call-out posts" are not allowed. All developers are welcome on our subreddit (provided they too are following the rules.)
  3. When helping others, please help them directly

  4. Direct Advertisements Are Not Allowed
This subreddit does not allow posts that have a sole purpose to advertise a game, UGC, or monetized creation. Instead, we ask that users use their posts to focus on an aspect of their game. The list above is not comprehensive. Get creative with showing your work off!
  5. Criticism must be constructive and done in appropriate situations
Constructive criticism is welcome, *as long as* you aren't attacking the developer himself or just generally being rude. You can dislike something but still be mature and constructive about why you feel like it's not good for you. Additionally, please make sure any criticism is done at appropriate times. A user asking for help may not the best time to share advice on improving their code/creations. Make sure to "read the room" and only offer it if it feels like it's needed.

What the written rules don't show

  • Unpublished minimums. Many communities remove posts from new or low-karma accounts through AutoModerator settings that are not on the rules page, often before a moderator sees them.
  • Reddit's own filters. Reddit's site-wide spam filters can remove posts from accounts that mostly share links to their own site, in any community.
  • The community's norms. Many communities see themselves as peers, not an audience: post where you already take part, and make the post worth reading without the link.
