What this page is

This page quotes r/playmygame's rules as ThreadFox read them on 2026-10-04. The quoted text is the community's; the verdict above is our reading of it. Conditions often decide whether a post fits (a required thread, flair, posting day, account age or karma), and r/playmygame's current rules on Reddit always win over this page.

What its rules say about promotion

Include a direct link to the game
You must provide a direct link to your game (i.e. full game, build, demo, or key). You are free to include additional links to your socials but this needs to follow after the game link. After all, the primary focus of your post needs to be the game.
Put [TRAILER TUESDAY] in title for pay-required and complete game advertisements.
Please put [TRAILER TUESDAY] in headline IF IT IS Tuesday and you are wanting to advertise your pay-to-play games. Only allowed Tuesdays.

What its rules say about AI and bots

NEW RULE: Be Truthful / No false claims about your game.
If you explicitly state something untrue ("100% hand-painted art" when it's Midjourney, "original soundtrack" when it's AI-generated), that's removable.
NEW RULE: No AI culture wars.
- Comments about gameplay experience: always allowed ("the voices sounded robotic," "art style felt generic," "really fun mechanic") - Comments attacking the developer over AI use: removed ("you're not a real developer," "you're ruining the industry," hateful/judgmental) Comments going into debate whether AI should exist: removed (take it to another sub)
All 10 rules of r/playmygame
  1. Your game must be playable for free or key giveaway (see details)
If you want to post about your game, please ensure that our community is able to play it for free NOW (not "soon"). Regardless of the actual pricing of your game, at least provide a free build, demo. This should then be the primary focus of your post. If you choose to provide a key, you must make at least 10 available and give it to 10 random people who comment on your thread (no outside giveaways or gleam).
  2. Include a (brief) description of your game / your participation in development
    - Please include a description about your game when making a post. Simply posting a video or screenshot without context does not suffice. This way, we ensure quality posts that also make people more interested in your game! - You must be a part of your game's development, so please state your position/participation in the game's development. No "posting for a friend's game."
  3. Include a direct link to the game
You must provide a direct link to your game (i.e. full game, build, demo, or key). You are free to include additional links to your socials but this needs to follow after the game link. After all, the primary focus of your post needs to be the game.
  4. NEW RULE: Be Truthful / No false claims about your game.
If you explicitly state something untrue ("100% hand-painted art" when it's Midjourney, "original soundtrack" when it's AI-generated), that's removable.
  6. Ensure your game is playable/not stolen IP/no flappy bird.
While this is subjective and can be contested, any game should be of decent playability before submitted to ensure a good experience for our community. - This means no flappy bird clones, reskins, build box apps, or buggy unplayable games. - We don't allow "game collection" sites.
  7. 1 post per month please
Please wait for 1 month before reposting your game. Contact mods if there is an issue with your post being removed immediately.
  8. Games requiring a NDA are not allowed
If your game requires an NDA that forbids discussion when being tested, it simply does not meet the requirements for posting here.
  9. Horror games require NSFW tag
Flag your post as a NSFW game if it is horror related in nature. Horror games are allowed. Sexual games are not allowed at all.
  10. Put [TRAILER TUESDAY] in title for pay-required and complete game advertisements.
Please put [TRAILER TUESDAY] in headline IF IT IS Tuesday and you are wanting to advertise your pay-to-play games. Only allowed Tuesdays.

What the written rules don't show

  • Unpublished minimums. Many communities remove posts from new or low-karma accounts through AutoModerator settings that are not on the rules page, often before a moderator sees them.
  • Reddit's own filters. Reddit's site-wide spam filters can remove posts from accounts that mostly share links to their own site, in any community.
  • The community's norms. Many communities see themselves as peers, not an audience: post where you already take part, and make the post worth reading without the link.
