What this page is
This page quotes r/photography's rules as ThreadFox read them on 2026-09-24. The quoted text is the community's; the verdict above is our reading of it. Conditions often decide whether a post fits (a required thread, flair, posting day, account age or karma), and r/photography's current rules on Reddit always win over this page.
Free, for a specific product: a researched Reddit plan by email (communities whose rules fit your post, quoted and dated), or ThreadFox Lite, read-only tools an AI assistant can use to read a community's current rules itself, through your own Chrome (Claude Code: claude mcp add threadfox-lite -- uvx threadfox-lite). For an assistant that also writes and posts within each community's rules, the ThreadFox kit is $49 once.
Want to post here? Get ThreadFox ($49): your AI (Claude Desktop, Claude Code or Codex) reads a community's current rules, writes one post that fits and posts once from your own Chrome. No Claude? This sub is for discussing photography, not just sharing your work. We have regular community threads where you can share your photos. Posting images is allowed as self-post using the photo as an example for the discussion to either begin a conversation about aspects of the example or to ask a photography-related question. The image should be used to support an overall broad and nonspecific topic/question rather than the focus of the post. Visit r/photographs, our sister photo sharing sub. - Post is a gear-related, troubleshooting pricing or post-processing/style/emulation question
Questions asking for equipment purchasing advice, searching for X or Y product, troubleshooting, pricing or post-processing/style/emulation questions should be posted as comments in the most recent Official Question thread, stickied at the top of the subreddit. Before posting, please read the FAQ. When seeking purchase recommendations, please be specific about how much you can spend. - Stand-alone questions must contain a minimum amount of context and not be common duplicate questions
Interesting discussions/questions on broader topics may be permitted as self-posts at the discretion of the moderators. What the written rules don't show
- Unpublished minimums. Many communities remove posts from new or low-karma accounts through AutoModerator settings that are not on the rules page, often before a moderator sees them.
- Reddit's own filters. Reddit's site-wide spam filters can remove posts from accounts that mostly share links to their own site, in any community.
- The community's norms. Many communities see themselves as peers, not an audience: post where you already take part, and make the post worth reading without the link.
