What this page is

This page quotes r/ObsidianMD's rules as ThreadFox read them on 2026-10-05. The quoted text is the community's; the verdict above is our reading of it. Conditions often decide whether a post fits (a required thread, flair, posting day, account age or karma), and r/ObsidianMD's current rules on Reddit always win over this page.

Free, for a specific product: a researched Reddit plan by email (communities whose rules fit your post, quoted and dated), or ThreadFox Lite, read-only tools an AI assistant can use to read a community's current rules itself, through your own Chrome (Claude Code: claude mcp add threadfox-lite -- uvx threadfox-lite). For an assistant that also writes and posts within each community's rules, the ThreadFox kit is $49 once.

Want to post here? Get ThreadFox ($49): your AI (Claude Desktop, Claude Code or Codex) reads a community's current rules, writes one post that fits and posts once from your own Chrome. No Claude? We'll post for you ($99 per 30-day campaign). Free: a Reddit launch plan for your product, ThreadFox Lite or the posting checklist by email.

What its rules say about promotion

Don’t shill
If you are just here to advertise your product, don’t.
No slop
Don't post AI-generated content, it will be removed. For posts about using AI with Obsidian use the "ai" flair. If your first and only post is to promote your project (vibe-coded or otherwise), you will be immediately banned. https://www.reddit.com/r/ObsidianMD/comments/1s8nt0m/if_your_first_post_is_to_promote_your_app_you/

What its rules say about AI and bots

All 5 rules of r/ObsidianMD
  1. Be nice to everyone
We want to make this community as inclusive as possible. The mods generally take a very liberal opinion of what defines "being nice", but here's a quick check: if someone said to you in the street the thing you're about to post, would it make you feel bad? Then it's not very nice, is it?
  2. Memes go in the meme subreddit, not here
Obsidian memes should go to r/ObsidianMDMemes, not here. Please put them there so all your humor needs are fulfilled with one stop.
  3. Don’t shill
If you are just here to advertise your product, don’t.
  4. No slop
Don't post AI-generated content, it will be removed. For posts about using AI with Obsidian use the "ai" flair. 5. Bugs should be reported on the Obsidian Forum
If you want the Obsidian team to see your bug report please open it on the official Obsidian Forum https://forum.obsidian.md/

What the written rules don't show

  • Unpublished minimums. Many communities remove posts from new or low-karma accounts through AutoModerator settings that are not on the rules page, often before a moderator sees them.
  • Reddit's own filters. Reddit's site-wide spam filters can remove posts from accounts that mostly share links to their own site, in any community.
  • The community's norms. Many communities see themselves as peers, not an audience: post where you already take part, and make the post worth reading without the link.

Let your AI read the rules before it posts.

ThreadFox reads a community's current rules, writes a post that fits them, posts once with Reddit's Brand affiliate tag and checks it stayed up. The free ThreadFox Lite reads rules too.
