What this page is
This page quotes r/neovim's rules as ThreadFox read them on 2026-09-26. The quoted text is the community's; the verdict above is our reading of it. Conditions often decide whether a post fits (a required thread, flair, posting day, account age or karma), and r/neovim's current rules on Reddit always win over this page.
Free, for a specific product: a researched Reddit plan by email (communities whose rules fit your post, quoted and dated), or ThreadFox Lite, read-only tools an AI assistant can use to read a community's current rules itself, through your own Chrome (Claude Code: claude mcp add threadfox-lite -- uvx threadfox-lite). For an assistant that also writes and posts within each community's rules, the ThreadFox kit is $49 once.
Want to post here? Get ThreadFox ($49): your AI (Claude Desktop, Claude Code or Codex) reads a community's current rules, writes one post that fits and posts once from your own Chrome. No Claude? We'll post for you ($99 per 30-day campaign). Free: a Reddit launch plan for your product, ThreadFox Lite or the posting checklist by email.

What its rules say about promotion
No soliciting/spamming/selling
Do not use this subreddit to advertise, promote products or services, or engage in any form of unsolicited messaging or spamming.
All 9 rules of r/neovim
- The golden rule
Please be kind and courteous. Please respect other people's opinions. Reference the [Rust Code of Conduct](https://www.rust-lang.org/policies/code-of-conduct) for specific guidelines. - No elitism
Be welcoming to everyone! Our community thrives when we support each other. Treat newcomers with kindness, avoid elitism, and encourage inclusive, positive participation. Whether you're a long time member or just starting out, everyone's contribution is valuable and deserves respect. - No low-effort content
Try `:help` and `:helpgrep` before you post to see if the documentation can answer your question. Post titles should include useful context. When asking for help, try to give as much context as possible. Describe your issue, and explain what you have already tried to solve it yourself. If an error message prompts you to do something, do that before posting. If it did not resolve your problem, include that in your post. - No witch hunting
Do not encourage or participate in targeted harassment, doxxing, or any attempts to mobilize others to attack or harass individuals or groups. - No duplicate content
Please do not post the same, or similar, content multiple times within a short time frame. Search the subreddit before posting. Question that have been answered multiple times already like "Why Neovim", and "Neovim vs X" are not allowed. - No getting started posts
"How do I get started" posts are not allowed. Please read the getting started wiki and only ask specific questions when you get stuck. - No soliciting/spamming/selling
Do not use this subreddit to advertise, promote products or services, or engage in any form of unsolicited messaging or spamming. - No plagiarism
Sharing other people's work, partially or in full, as your own results in an immediate ban. This includes GitHub repos that contain significant amount of code taken from other places without proper credit. - Use the monthly threads
- To share your config, please use the monthly dotfile review thread - To share memes, please use the monthly meme thread
What the written rules don't show
- Unpublished minimums. Many communities remove posts from new or low-karma accounts through AutoModerator settings that are not on the rules page, often before a moderator sees them.
- Reddit's own filters. Reddit's site-wide spam filters can remove posts from accounts that mostly share links to their own site, in any community.
- The community's norms. Many communities see themselves as peers, not an audience: post where you already take part, and make the post worth reading without the link.
