What this page is
This page quotes r/Jazz's rules as ThreadFox read them on 2026-09-26. The quoted text is the community's; the verdict above is our reading of it. Conditions often decide whether a post fits (a required thread, flair, posting day, account age or karma), and r/Jazz's current rules on Reddit always win over this page.

What its rules say about AI and bots
No AI
Content created using generative-AI software is not allowed on the sub, and may result in a ban. The perils of AI music and the real-sounding nature of AI jazz have been well-discussed - PLEASE use the search feature. Posts asking "is this track/video AI?" MIGHT be allowed if it is not obviously AI. If the item in question meets any of the criteria in the link below, it is MOST LIKELY AI, so do NOT post about it. https://www.reddit.com/r/Jazz/comments/1p4d1z3/update_to_ai_music_policy/
All 8 rules of r/Jazz
- Keep it civil
Hateful, derogatory or unkind speech and personal attacks will not be tolerated and will likely result in at least a temporary ban. Trolling and/or being consistently unable to engage politely in discussion also falls under this rule. - No unrelated topics
Content not related to jazz in some way will be removed. - Please provide commentary in your posts
If posting a photo of an album, artist etc, or a link to a song or video on YouTube, PLEASE provide some kind of commentary, opinion or analysis on the piece to get the conversation started. Post that follow this rule get MUCH more engagement, upvotes and comments. - Please avoid low-effort posts
What is considered low-effort is at the discretion of the mods and the sub members who may report posts. Examples include "happy birthday" posts to jazz musicians with no original commentary, posts that simply make a statement with no other insight, highly repetitive posts or any other posts that feel like click-bait. - No non-specific recommendation requests
There have already been HUNDREDS of posts stating "I am new to jazz, where should I start?", or something similar. Posts asking for recommendations are more than welcome, but please provide as much criteria as you can so more specific recs can be made. - No spam
What constitutes spam is at the discretion of the mods and user reports, but we hope it should be pretty self-explanatory. - No memes or circlejerk-type content
But r/jazzcirclejerk is ready and waiting for your dankest posts! - No AI

What the written rules don't show
- Unpublished minimums. Many communities remove posts from new or low-karma accounts through AutoModerator settings that are not on the rules page, often before a moderator sees them.
- Reddit's own filters. Reddit's site-wide spam filters can remove posts from accounts that mostly share links to their own site, in any community.
- The community's norms. Many communities see themselves as peers, not an audience: post where you already take part, and make the post worth reading without the link.
