What its rules say about promotion
No Dev Self-Promotion Outside Saturday Megathreads.
**Developer Saturdays:** Every Saturday (currently running on U.S. Eastern Time, or UTC-4), DEVs may promote their iOS games once per week on the designated megathread. This is the only day self-promo is allowed. DEVs must meet minimum karma/account age requirements to be able to post. Self-promo outside of this window (including comments made on older or non-Saturday posts) will be removed and may result in a ban.
No Unrelated Self-Promotion.
**Self-promotion is only permitted for iOS game apps.** Promotion of non-game apps, non-iOS apps, standalone websites, services, social media accounts, Discord servers, or other unrelated products and content is not allowed.
No Affiliate, Referral, or Monetized URLs.
Submissions and comments containing affiliate, referral, campaign, or monetized URLs are not allowed. This includes links with affiliate tokens (at=), campaign tokens (ct=) and source tokens (src=). Such content is automatically removed and will be treated as spam.
No URL Shorteners or Tracking Links.
URL shorteners are not allowed because they can disguise affiliate or tracking links. This includes appsto.re links, which are treated no differently than other shortened URLs. We maintain a blacklist of URL shorteners that are automatically removed by AutoModerator.

What the written rules don't show
- Unpublished minimums. Many communities remove posts from new or low-karma accounts through AutoModerator settings that are not on the rules page, often before a moderator sees them.
- Reddit's own filters. Reddit's site-wide spam filters can remove posts from accounts that mostly share links to their own site, in any community.
- The community's norms. Many communities see themselves as peers, not an audience: post where you already take part, and make the post worth reading without the link.
