What this page is

This page quotes r/IndieMusicFeedback's rules as ThreadFox read them on 2026-09-26. The quoted text is the community's; the verdict above is our reading of it. Conditions often decide whether a post fits (a required thread, flair, posting day, account age or karma), and r/IndieMusicFeedback's current rules on Reddit always win over this page.

Free, for a specific product: a researched Reddit plan by email (communities whose rules fit your post, quoted and dated), or ThreadFox Lite, read-only tools an AI assistant can use to read a community's current rules itself, through your own Chrome (Claude Code: claude mcp add threadfox-lite -- uvx threadfox-lite). For an assistant that also writes and posts within each community's rules, the ThreadFox kit is $49 once.

Want to post here? Get ThreadFox ($49): your AI (Claude Desktop, Claude Code or Codex) reads a community's current rules, writes one post that fits and posts once from your own Chrome. No Claude? We'll post for you ($99 per 30-day campaign). Free: a Reddit launch plan for your product, ThreadFox Lite or the posting checklist by email.

What its rules say about promotion

Do not promo your music in the comment section of another user's post
Promoting your music in the comment section of another user's post is not allowed. Linking your music is allowed if requested or part of the discussion.

What its rules say about AI and bots

AI generated music is not allowed
If AI generated any significant part of the music, including the instrumental, melody, arrangement, or vocals, the submission is not allowed. Examples: * If you wrote the lyrics but generated the music, it is not allowed. * If you generated the vocals but produced the music, it is not allowed. Tools like a Vocaloid or other vocal synthesis programs are still allowed if you wrote the lyrics and melody yourself.
Using AI to generate feedback will result in a ban
We ask that all feedback is written by you.
All 10 rules of r/IndieMusicFeedback
  1. Comment on 5 songs before posting
Members must give quality feedback to 5 songs before posting a track. Each time you give 225 characters (around 3 sentences) of quality feedback, you are awarded 1 point. You can only gain 1 point per song, and you must gain 5 points before you can post your own song. **Comments need to be made on songs from the last few days.** Going back weeks or months will not count.
  2. Feedback Quality: Be constructive and acknowledge subjectivity
Be constructive and acknowledge subjectivity by sharing specific insights that reflect your taste. If you think the song is perfect, highlight what moved you and what you loved, helping the artist recognize their strengths. If something didn’t work express your feelings subjectively while suggesting improvements; for instance, say, “I prefer vocals with more reverb for depth” vs “The dry vocals are terrible.” This fosters dialogue that supports the artist's growth while respecting their vision.
  4. Using AI to generate feedback will result in a ban
We ask that all feedback is written by you.
  5. Post one song at a time
  6. Do not promo your music in the comment section of another user's post
Promoting your music in the comment section of another user's post is not allowed. Linking your music is allowed if requested or part of the discussion.
  7. Follow4Follow posts will be removed
  8. If you post a song that isn't yours, let us know in the title
Sharing non-original music is allowed here, but let us know in the title, so that the community can respond accordingly.
  9. Basic Civility
    Remain polite and respectful.
  10. Do not get defensive when receiving feedback.
Music is subjective and everyone has their own likes/dislikes. The person giving you feedback is trying to help you and deserves to be treated with respect.

What the written rules don't show

  • Unpublished minimums. Many communities remove posts from new or low-karma accounts through AutoModerator settings that are not on the rules page, often before a moderator sees them.
  • Reddit's own filters. Reddit's site-wide spam filters can remove posts from accounts that mostly share links to their own site, in any community.
  • The community's norms. Many communities see themselves as peers, not an audience: post where you already take part, and make the post worth reading without the link.
