This page quotes r/indianstartups's rules as ThreadFox read them on 2026-10-04. The quoted text is the community's; the verdict above is our reading of it. Conditions often decide whether a post fits (a required thread, flair, posting day, account age or karma), and r/indianstartups's current rules on Reddit always win over this page.

What its rules say about promotion
Relevant Content Only
We are a community of discussion based around startups, based in India. And build from India and for the world. All content must be relevant to startups. You are welcome to ask how to apply startup methodologies to your traditional business if you frame your question in a non-promotional way. We want you to be able to ask any question that helps your startup.
No direct sales, advertisements, or promotion
No direct sales, advertisements, or promotional posts of any kind. Use appropriate flairs to do so. Self-promotion is anything you have an interest, stake or relationship with including being friends with someone at the company. At the end of the day, /r/indianstartups moderators have the final say if your comments are promotional or not.

The goal of this community is to encourage people to learn and be inspired to pursue ventures related to startups. Do not troll, harass people, or be an asshole. This does not mean to lie. It means to give support and explain why you don't like something. Try to remember people likely do not have much experience yet or might be simply ignorant to what you know. Be willing to hold a discussion and try to explain your opinion or point of view to the benefit of the entire community. - No personal attacks
Criticism of ideas, concepts, approaches or plans is welcome. Facing reality is a necessary part of business even when the reality is harsh. Direct written attacks on a person or group of people or picking fights are not and are not allowed in this sub. Please report threats or harassment under that rule. - Follow the Rules of Reddit
Rules of Reddit - They apply everywhere on Reddit. Also consider Reddiquette The latter isn't mandatory but might be used in considering the intent of your post. - Avoid unprofessional communication
As a professional subreddit, we expect our community to maintain reasonable decorum. We expect you to treat fellow Entrepreneurs like you would a co-worker. We don't have an H.R., but that is no excuse to be aggressive, foul, or unprofessional. NSFW topics are allowed only if labeled as NSFW. If it doubt label it. - Unsolicited Opinion and Thoughts
Please do not use this community as your personal blog, do not feel compelled to share your opinion with a post, this is not a personal diary where you share your day dreams, thoughts, and opine on subjective concepts. Please feel free to provide evidence-based best practices, share a micro-victory, discuss strategy and concepts with a frame work, ask for feedback, and create professional conversation. Treat every post as if you're at work and representing the best version of yourself.
What the written rules don't show
- Unpublished minimums. Many communities remove posts from new or low-karma accounts through AutoModerator settings that are not on the rules page, often before a moderator sees them.
- Reddit's own filters. Reddit's site-wide spam filters can remove posts from accounts that mostly share links to their own site, in any community.
- The community's norms. Many communities see themselves as peers, not an audience: post where you already take part, and make the post worth reading without the link.
