What this page is

This page quotes r/homeassistant's rules as ThreadFox read them on 2026-10-05. The quoted text is the community's; the verdict above is our reading of it. Conditions often decide whether a post fits (a required thread, flair, posting day, account age or karma), and r/homeassistant's current rules on Reddit always win over this page.

Free, for a specific product: a researched Reddit plan by email (communities whose rules fit your post, quoted and dated), or ThreadFox Lite, read-only tools an AI assistant can use to read a community's current rules itself, through your own Chrome (Claude Code: claude mcp add threadfox-lite -- uvx threadfox-lite). For an assistant that also writes and posts within each community's rules, the ThreadFox kit is $49 once.

Want to post here? Get ThreadFox ($49): your AI (Claude Desktop, Claude Code or Codex) reads a community's current rules, writes one post that fits and posts once from your own Chrome. No Claude? We'll post for you ($99 per 30-day campaign). Free: a Reddit launch plan for your product, ThreadFox Lite or the posting checklist by email.

What its rules say about promotion

No spam or ads
Obvious spam (posted from a suspect account) should be reported for removal. Ads are not allowed, except in the case of the Open Home Foundation's commercial partners. This does not include posting personal projects or YouTube content related to Home Assistant or its sister projects.
Commercial use of the Home Assistant logo is strictly prohibited
The Home Assistant logo is trademarked and the property of the Open Home Foundation, which means it is not available for commercial use without explicit written permission from the foundation. We regard commercial use as anything designed to market or promote a product, software or service that is for sale. This includes using a Home Assistant logo generated with AI.

What its rules say about AI and bots

No AI generated responses
The use of answers generated by AI tooling (ChatGPT, Claude, etc.) is not allowed - people are looking for answers from humans. If someone wanted an AI to help solve their problem, they would have used one.

All 10 rules of r/homeassistant
  1. No AI generated responses
The use of answers generated by AI tooling (ChatGPT, Claude, etc.) is not allowed - people are looking for answers from humans. If someone wanted an AI to help solve their problem, they would have used one.
  2. No personal attacks
Attacking an individual because you disagree with them is not allowed. If you think a topic or comment shouldn't be here, please downvote it instead of responding.
  3. Be nice
Home Assistant is a welcoming and inclusive community.

  6. No reposts
Please don't post images, videos, or links that have already been shared here recently. Check before posting, and if it has already been covered, join the existing discussion instead.
  7. Stay on topic
Posts and comments should be about Home Assistant or its wider ecosystem, including Open Home Foundation projects, integrations, hardware, and related home automation. Content that is not related to Home Assistant may be removed.
  8. Post in English
Everyone is welcome here regardless of their first language, but English is the only way we can include the whole community. Please post and comment in English.
  9. No engagement bait or karma farming
Don't post mainly to farm upvotes or interaction. Posts should genuinely contribute to Home Assistant discussion, not just harvest karma or replies. This includes reposting others' work as your own and low-substance engagement bait, for example "upvote if you love HA", generic "what's your favorite integration?" karma-bait, or hot-take polls.
  10. No politics
This is a space for Home Assistant, not political debate. Partisan or political content, and arguments unrelated to Home Assistant, aren't allowed here. Please keep discussion focused on home automation. There are better communities for political topics.

What the written rules don't show

  • Unpublished minimums. Many communities remove posts from new or low-karma accounts through AutoModerator settings that are not on the rules page, often before a moderator sees them.
  • Reddit's own filters. Reddit's site-wide spam filters can remove posts from accounts that mostly share links to their own site, in any community.
  • The community's norms. Many communities see themselves as peers, not an audience: post where you already take part, and make the post worth reading without the link.

Let your AI read the rules before it posts.

ThreadFox reads a community's current rules, writes a post that fits them, posts once with Reddit's Brand affiliate tag and checks it stayed up. The free ThreadFox Lite reads rules too.
