What this page is
This page quotes r/degoogle's rules as ThreadFox read them on 2026-10-07. The quoted text is the community's; the verdict above is our reading of it. Conditions often decide whether a post fits (a required thread, flair, posting day, account age or karma), and r/degoogle's current rules on Reddit always win over this page.
Free, for a specific product: a researched Reddit plan by email (communities whose rules fit your post, quoted and dated), or ThreadFox Lite, read-only tools an AI assistant can use to read a community's current rules itself, through your own Chrome (Claude Code: claude mcp add threadfox-lite -- uvx threadfox-lite). For an assistant that also writes and posts within each community's rules, the ThreadFox kit is $49 once.
Want to post here? Get ThreadFox ($49): your AI (Claude Desktop, Claude Code or Codex) reads a community's current rules, writes one post that fits and posts once from your own Chrome. No Claude? What its rules say about promotion
Spam or Marketing
Project promotions belong in the Degoogle Showcase megathread, pinned at the top of the sub. If you are affiliated with a project (developer, employee, or otherwise representing the company), please prefix your comment with [DEV] so the mod team can vet it before it goes live. Independent users sharing projects they've found can post freely. Repeated promotion of the same product across the sub is not allowed.
No Affiliate Links
Posts and comments containing affiliate links, referral codes, or monetized URLs will be removed. Share clean links so the community benefits, not your wallet.
What its rules say about AI and bots
Disclose AI Generated Content
If your post or project includes AI-generated code, content, or recommendations, please disclose it. This helps the community evaluate the source and quality of the information.
All 13 rules of r/degoogle
- Stay on Topic
Keep your posts and comments on the topic of removing Google from our life. We also recommend that you don't rely on other freedom and privacy-invading corporations, but we're not enforcing this. If you're looking for such a subreddit, then r/CorpFree is the right place for you! Content must be related to the following: - How to DeGoogle - DeGoogling Resources - DeGoogling Tutorials - DeGoogling Questions - DeGoogling Progress - [etc](https://reddit.com/r/degoogle/comments/c0au6r) - Respect and Reddiquette
You can be angry yet polite. You can pass the same respect to other users and people of different race, gender or background as you want to be given to you. Respect the conversation and Reddiquette. - Spam or Marketing

If you are affiliated with a project (developer, employee, or otherwise representing the company), please prefix your comment with [DEV] so the mod team can vet it before it goes live. Independent users sharing projects they've found can post freely. Repeated promotion of the same product across the sub is not allowed. - Low Quality Discussion or sh*tposts
For posts which are related to the DeGoogling process yet lack any thought or care of research before posting. Memes and pictures fall under this rule. - No First Party Google Hosted Links (AMP/Youtube/Google)
Please do not post links to AMP articles or YouTube. Use alternative frontends like Invidious or Piped, or video hosts like PeerTube where possible. A list of working Invidious instances can be found at https://redirect.invidious.io/. Our wiki has a guide on alternative frontends. - Unfounded allegations & accusations are not allowed
Any allegations, blanket statements, or accusations require proof/cites/evidence. Everyone must be informed properly to make their own decisions and that includes citing proper sources. - Avoid closed-source and centralized software
We should strive to use more [libre](https://framatube.org/videos/watch/a19e809f-5e21-4969-956d-1aa3ccd957f4) and decentralized software whenever possible - Don't post blacklisted links
We blacklist websites that usually generate low-quality content. Currently: x.com, medium.com. For X/Twitter content, please use a Nitter instance instead. Exceptions are made for posts that provide genuine value and are of high quality. - ROM question not in Megathread
All rom related questions must be posted in the current ROM megathread. - Low Effort
Users must put in at least a little research and describe the research they performed in order to help the community answer their questions. Our users are not google - No Duplicate Posts
Please check the sub before posting to avoid reposting recent content. This includes different sources covering the same story without adding new information or perspective. Updates to ongoing stories are welcome if they include new details. - Disclose AI Generated Content
If your post or project includes AI-generated code, content, or recommendations, please disclose it. This helps the community evaluate the source and quality of the information. - No Affiliate Links
Posts and comments containing affiliate links, referral codes, or monetized URLs will be removed. Share clean links so the community benefits, not your wallet.
What the written rules don't show
- Unpublished minimums. Many communities remove posts from new or low-karma accounts through AutoModerator settings that are not on the rules page, often before a moderator sees them.
- Reddit's own filters. Reddit's site-wide spam filters can remove posts from accounts that mostly share links to their own site, in any community.
- The community's norms. Many communities see themselves as peers, not an audience: post where you already take part, and make the post worth reading without the link.
Let your AI read the rules before it posts.
ThreadFox reads a community's current rules, writes a post that fits them, posts once with Reddit's Brand affiliate tag and checks it stayed up. The free ThreadFox Lite reads rules too.
