Can you promote on r/CLI?
No rule mentions promotion None of its rules mentions self-promotion. That is not permission: read every rule, say plainly that it's yours, and make the post useful on its own.
What this page is
This page quotes r/CLI's rules as ThreadFox read them on 2026-10-05. The quoted text is the community's; the verdict above is our reading of it. Conditions often decide whether a post fits (a required thread, flair, posting day, account age or karma), and r/CLI's current rules on Reddit always win over this page.
Free, for a specific product: a researched Reddit plan by email (communities whose rules fit your post, quoted and dated), or ThreadFox Lite, read-only tools an AI assistant can use to read a community's current rules itself, through your own Chrome (Claude Code: claude mcp add threadfox-lite -- uvx threadfox-lite). For an assistant that also writes and posts within each community's rules, the ThreadFox kit is $49 once.
Want to post here? Get ThreadFox ($49): your AI (Claude Desktop, Claude Code or Codex) reads a community's current rules, writes one post that fits and posts once from your own Chrome. No Claude? We'll post for you ($99 per 30-day campaign). Free: a Reddit launch plan for your product, ThreadFox Lite or the posting checklist by email.

A command line interface (CLI) is a text-based interface where you can input commands that interact with a computer's operating system. The CLI operates with the help of the default shell, which is between the operating system and the user. r/CLI is a community for sharing CLIs, discussing about CLIs and doing other things around CLIs.

- Remember The Human
The "Remember the Human" rule is a fundamental guideline that encourages respectful and considerate communication online. It emphasizes treating others with kindness, empathy, and understanding, just as you would in face-to-face interactions. It serves as a reminder to keep in mind that there is a real person behind every screen or username, and to engage in discussions with respect and empathy. - Follow Reddiquette
Try to follow [Reddiquette](https://support.reddithelp.com/hc/en-us/articles/205926439-Reddiquette) at all times. - Keep it relevant
Post content related to CLIs (Command Line Interfaces) only. Try to keep it relevant. - No NSFW Content
No porn, gore or any kind of NSFW material in any form isn't permitted or allowed here. - No Spam
Please don't spam the subreddit, it's annoying.
What the written rules don't show
- Unpublished minimums. Many communities remove posts from new or low-karma accounts through AutoModerator settings that are not on the rules page, often before a moderator sees them.
- Reddit's own filters. Reddit's site-wide spam filters can remove posts from accounts that mostly share links to their own site, in any community.
- The community's norms. Many communities see themselves as peers, not an audience: post where you already take part, and make the post worth reading without the link.
