What this page is
This page quotes r/chillhop's rules as ThreadFox read them on 2026-09-26. The quoted text is the community's; the verdict above is our reading of it. Conditions often decide whether a post fits (a required thread, flair, posting day, account age or karma), and r/chillhop's current rules on Reddit always win over this page.

Welcome to the Chillhop Subreddit! 🦝 This is a sub for Chillhop Music, the Lo-Fi Hiphop brand, but also for the genre of Chillhop as a whole.
What its rules say about promotion
No Link Spam! (Don't Link your own Youtube/Soundcloud Mixes)
We get that growing musicians want to share their music Users are allowed to upload clips of their own Chillhop directly to Reddit BUT Link Spam posts to your Youtube/Soundcloud/Spotify page aren't allowed! No one clicks external links like that, and it clutters the Feed for everyone else. Instead, upload a clip of your Chillhop music directly to Reddit so you can be heard by users more easily. Self Promo must be designated to weekly self promo thread where links are allowed.

What the written rules don't show
- Unpublished minimums. Many communities remove posts from new or low-karma accounts through AutoModerator settings that are not on the rules page, often before a moderator sees them.
- Reddit's own filters. Reddit's site-wide spam filters can remove posts from accounts that mostly share links to their own site, in any community.
- The community's norms. Many communities see themselves as peers, not an audience: post where you already take part, and make the post worth reading without the link.
