What this page is
This page quotes r/buildinpublic's rules as ThreadFox read them on 2026-10-04. The quoted text is the community's; the verdict above is our reading of it. Conditions often decide whether a post fits (a required thread, flair, posting day, account age or karma), and r/buildinpublic's current rules on Reddit always win over this page.
Free, for a specific product: a researched Reddit plan by email (communities whose rules fit your post, quoted and dated), or ThreadFox Lite, read-only tools an AI assistant can use to read a community's current rules itself, through your own Chrome (Claude Code: claude mcp add threadfox-lite -- uvx threadfox-lite). For an assistant that also writes and posts within each community's rules, the ThreadFox kit is $49 once.
Want to post here? Get ThreadFox ($49): your AI (Claude Desktop, Claude Code or Codex) reads a community's current rules, writes one post that fits and posts once from your own Chrome. No Claude? We'll post for you ($99 per 30-day campaign). Free: a Reddit launch plan for your product, ThreadFox Lite or the posting checklist by email.

- its rules on Reddit
A community for creators, developers, entrepreneurs, and makers to openly share their journey as they build projects in public. Whether you're coding, designing, writing, or launching a business, this is the place to share progress, challenges, wins, and lessons.
Where to post: Normal post framed as progress, lessons learned or a feedback request (not a bare announcement)
What it requires: Post must be about building in public; share progress/lessons/ask for feedback rather than pure promotion; disclose whether tools you share are paid, free or affiliate-linked; no link spam
What its rules say about promotion
No Self-Promotion Without Context
Share your work openly, but avoid posting solely for self-promotion. Instead, focus on sharing progress, lessons learned, and asking for feedback.
No Spam
Spamming links, irrelevant content, or unsolicited advertisements will lead to immediate removal. Keep the focus on building and learning together.
Transparency in Tools & Resources
If you share tools or resources, be transparent if they’re paid, free, or affiliate-linked. This helps maintain trust and clarity in the community.

What the written rules don't show
- Unpublished minimums. Many communities remove posts from new or low-karma accounts through AutoModerator settings that are not on the rules page, often before a moderator sees them.
- Reddit's own filters. Reddit's site-wide spam filters can remove posts from accounts that mostly share links to their own site, in any community.
- The community's norms. Many communities see themselves as peers, not an audience: post where you already take part, and make the post worth reading without the link.
